Outdoor Patio Update + Summer Entertaining with Joss & Main
I love all seasons, I really do, but summer in New England is something to really appreciate. Maybe it's because we wait so long for it. Maybe it's because the weather is just perfection. Maybe it's because everyone just seems like they are in the happiest of moods. Whatever it is, I try to soak it up in every capacity and spend as much time outdoors as possible.
So outdoor spaces up here are kind of important to us. One of the first projects we ever did to this house when we moved in 9 years ago (how is that possible, btw?) was put in this simple patio off the back door connecting to our screened porch so we could enjoy the backyard that made me fall in love with this house. For the past 8 years, we had two loungers here, and although they worked, they didn't really let us entertain groups. I've had my eyes on something a little more crowd-friendly for awhile now, so I was so excited to partner up with Joss & Main to update this space just in time for summer. They are always one of my first stops when I'm looking for something stylish (yet don't want to break the bank).
We went with this sectional set to help add additional seating for multiple people because it fit the space to a tee, and also matched our older table perfectly. I like to treat this patio as though it's another room in the house - so I really wanted to make sure all the pieces, both old and new, flowed together seamlessly. I added some throw pillows and a great blanket, and now this spot is our favorite corner to cozy up in after a long day.
I also needed to replace our old buffet near our dining table with something that wasn't going to crumble into a million pieces at any moment. Our old one definitely wasn't instagram-worthy (truth be told, it was kind of embarassing). I ended up landing on this potting bench to use in a less traditional way, because it was the perfect size (and very weatherproof). Having a place for people to serve themselves is always such a time saver when entertaining!
All in all, this space is so much more functional now, and when something is actually functional, you just end up using it more. It's the perfect place for a glass of wine, a cup of coffee or a place to catch up with friends - and I can't wait to embrace all those little small celebratory moments out here all summer long.
