Happy Holidays + Home Tour

Happiest of holidays, folks! I’m writing this at 4AM because my silly to-do list made me pop out of bed this morning - my brain just wouldn’t have it any other way. But it does mean I’ll finally get to make this post happen today, and I suppose that’s the silver lining to the bags under my eyes. Pass the coffee please!

So here we are! 2019 has been a humbling year for me. In the best possible way, but still, so humbling. I was forced to slow down on basically all fronts. It’s why this particular post - which was supposed to come out far before the holidays for my amazing readers (I still can’t believe y’all have stuck by me) - is being published the day before Christmas. Better late than never, I suppose, but it’s something I’ve definitely struggled with since having Henry. But you know what I haven’t struggled with? Being his mom. That is so easily my top priority that I just don’t beat myself up anymore about everything else. Which I suppose is really the greatest gift. One day I’ll figure out a better balance between the two lives I lead, but right now we are making it work. And publishing holiday posts at the very last minute.

But you know what? I DID make time to decorate this year, and that’s really saying something compared to past few years prior where I was either struggling with all the infertility nonsense or last year when I was snuggling a newborn. And getting back in the holiday decorating groove really felt amazing. Kind of like I was my old self again.

Now I don’t go super crazy with loads of decor (it’s well documented here that I’m not a fan of clutter), but I do load up on greenery. I’ll put it anywhere I can find a spot. I love how it warms up a room. That and white lights. Man do I love the look of white lights. When we first put up the tree and turned it on for Henry, he literally lost his mind. I so wish I had it on video. It was amazing. So I then found a way to put a tree in every room. Overboard? Perhaps? But what’s a mom to do when her little boy lights up like that?

We can’t really put ornaments on tree at this point due to the toddler tornado currently living in our house, so we kept the tree minimal but made sure to add a few sentimental ornaments up near the top of the tree. I got this amazing garland from Anthropologie though that really made the tree feel festive and elegant. One of these days we’ll be able to break out all of our ornaments again, but for now, the glow is all we need.

When it comes to outside, I’m classic all the way (everyone is shocked I’m sure). I love greens with pops of red. It just feels so festive. My friend Kim at Greenlion Designs made these beautiful wreaths for me, and they are just as perfect as they come. The little ones in the window make me smile every single day. So darn sweet.

We have so much to be thankful for in this little house, it honestly blows my mind. I love this little life we’ve created more than I could have ever imagined, and that’s better than any item on a well-timed gift guide (which I also never got around to doing - oops).

Thank you all so much for sticking around with me this year. It means so much. Merry happy everything! xoxo, Abby
